Vancouver Island, British Columbia is one of the top vacation destinations in the world, with many good tourist stops and things to see. From Whale watching tours to hiking, golfing, or browsing antique shops. Tourism in Victoria, BC is the mainstay with the downtown core been the hub of activity.

boasts a spectacular ocean side scenery with numereous gardens. The city has restored Victorian style heritage buildings, museums and is the capital city of British Columbia.

With plenty of quality restaurants and sight seeing tours through out the city core, Victoria is a travel destination anyone should add to their itinerary. Campbell River BC is the hot spot for fishing lodges and fishing charters and is about a 3 hour drive from victoria.

Mountain Biking in BC has become a huge sport. If you ever visit the Island in particular Courtenay, (Comox Valley), mountain biking trails are quite abundant and diverse ranging from easy to more advanced bike riding. Many trails were built around the lake in the mid to late 90's.
Comox Lake has quite a few trails and also Bevan townsite at Cumberland which is on the Courtenay side of Comox Lake. Forbidden Plateau and Mount Washington are other good spots in the Comox Valley. Bear Bait, Boston Main, Monster Mile, Tomato Creek, 2 Sheiks, Nymph Falls and screamin demon are well known trails to locals. Some of the trails run parallel to Puntledge River, and logging roads.

Vancouver Island was an independent Crown Colony between 1849 and 1866 when it was united with the Colony of BC.
The Island has the highest concentration of cougar (mountain lion) population in BC.
Caves are very abundant on the Island, many of them are concentrated on the upper north Island and consist of limestone.
Did you know that the highest waterfall in Canada is Della Falls. It cascades down over 420 meters (1250 feet). Della Falls is reachable from Port Alberni and accessible from Great Central Lake.
